If there is one piece of jewellery that I believe every woman should have in her collection, it is a beautiful pearl necklace.
Not just because pearls are timeless, but because they are incredibly versatile. The same pearl necklace can look completely different depending on what you wear with it, how you style it and, of course, the occasion.
And that is what I love about pearls.
Pearls Are Not Just for Weddings
We often think of pearls as something reserved for weddings, festive occasions or our mother’s jewellery box. But pearls have moved far beyond that.
Wear a pearl necklace with a crisp white shirt and jeans, and you have an effortlessly chic look. Add a blazer and you’re ready for a meeting or a business lunch. Pair the same necklace with a simple dress and suddenly it feels perfect for an evening out.
For me, that’s the real beauty of pearl jewellery—it doesn’t demand a particular occasion.
From Office to Evening
A pearl necklace can be one of the easiest ways to elevate workwear.
Imagine a simple black dress, a tailored blazer or even a white shirt with trousers. Add pearls and the entire look feels more polished without looking overdone.
Later in the evening, you can keep the same necklace and simply change your outfit, add earrings and a little more confidence—and you’re ready for dinner.
Pearls with Indian Wear
And of course, pearls and Indian outfits are a beautiful combination.
A pearl necklace with a saree can give you that graceful, timeless look. But don’t feel that you have to keep it traditional.
Try pearls with a plain silk kurta, an Anarkali, a contemporary saree or even an Indo-western outfit.
One of my favorites from Shara is the Endless Elegance – Shell Pearls & Druzy Stone Multi-Style Necklace. It combines shell pearls with druzy stones and can be styled in several different ways—layered, knotted, worn as a bracelet or even as a waist belt.
That’s exactly the kind of jewellery I love creating at Shara: one piece that gives you more than one look.
For Brunch, Vacations & Casual Days

Pearls don’t always have to look formal.
Pair them with a linen dress for brunch, denim for a casual day out or a flowy outfit for a holiday. Add a little layering and suddenly the same pearl necklace gets a completely different personality.
For a more bohemian, contemporary look, Shara’s Serenity Necklace- Freshwater Pearls Necklace is another example of how handcrafted jewellery can blend traditional elements with modern styling.
And Then Come the Special Moments
Birthdays, anniversaries, festive dinners, weddings, celebrations—or simply an evening when you want to dress up a little more.
Pearls work beautifully for all of them. The Regal Cascade – Graduated Multi-Strand Pearl Choker
They also make incredibly thoughtful gifts. A pearl necklace for your mother, sister, daughter, wife or a dear friend is something she can keep wearing long after the occasion is over.
Wear Pearls Your Way
I don’t think jewellery should have too many rules.
Wear your pearls with a saree. Wear them with jeans. Pair them with a blazer. Layer them with another necklace. Keep everything else minimal or let the necklace become the star.
There is no right or wrong way to wear pearls.
At Shara Handmade Jewellery, we love creating pieces that can become part of your wardrobe rather than something that sits in a jewellery box waiting for a special occasion.
